Summer Camping, Bend Teardrop Cooking Tips:
Savory Meals Under the Sun. Summer is the perfect time to hit the road with your teardrop trailer and indulge in outdoor
adventures. Whether you're exploring national parks, lounging by the lake, or simply enjoying
the freedom of the open road, one of the highlights of any camping trip is the culinary
experience. Here are some tips and recipes to help you make the most of cooking with your
outdoor teardrop kitchen during those sunny summer days.
Essential Cooking Tips for Bend Teardrop Camping:
1. Keep it Simple:
Opt for recipes that require minimal ingredients and preparation. This not only saves
space and time but also allows you to enjoy more time outdoors.
2. Plan Ahead:
Prepare a meal plan before your trip and pre-chop ingredients if possible. This makes
cooking with your Bend teardrop trailer more efficient and enjoyable.
We do a lot of food prep before we leave for a trip, it helps our family to still eat healthy
and spend less time during our camp trip cooking. We have more time enjoying nature.
Another tip; when I am making meals on the everyday, I freeze extras. Dave loves to pull
it from the freezer for his adventures! Pre-freezing is great! When you add it into the
cooler, it will keep other items cold and so easy to reheat.
3. Cookware:
We really like our cast iron pan to basically make most of our meals in.
Our cookware involves cast iron pan and a few pots.
Coffee burr grinder (Makes the best coffee!)
French Press Coffee
4. Embrace One-Pot Meals:
One-pot meals are ideal for Bend Teardrop camping as they minimize cleanup and use
fewer utensils. Think hearty stews, pasta dishes, or skillet meals that incorporate protein,
vegetables, and grains.
5. Take Advantage of Fresh Produce:
Best part of the summer is the seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables. Visit local farmers'
markets or roadside stands to pick up seasonal produce that can add flavor and nutrition
to your meals. Cannot beat local farmers produce, meats and seafoods!
6. Grilling and Campfire Cooking:
Bend Teardrop trailer outdoor kitchen, get grilling! Or if you're camping at a site with a
fire pit, take advantage of these options. Cooking over open fire camping is a lot of fun!
Grilling meats, vegetables, and even fruit can add a delicious smoky flavor to your meals.
We just made grilled peach, roasted tomatoes, burrata on top of local salad greens with
olive oil and balsamic drizzle. We have a few different balsamic vinegars; each family
member can choose which on they want!
Delicious Summer Bend Teardrop Camping Recipes:
1. Campfire Tacos:
Brown ground beef or turkey with taco seasoning in a skillet. Serve in tortillas with
shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, avocado slices, and cheese. Top with salsa and sour
cream.
2. Grilled Veggie Skewers:
Thread skewers with cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, zucchini slices, and mushrooms.
Brush with olive oil, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and grill until tender and slightly
charred. Another thing is you can buy pre-prepped skewers which can make a really easy meal!
3. Caprese Salad Wraps:
Fill large lettuce leaves with slices of fresh mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, and basil leaves.
Drizzle with balsamic glaze and roll up for a refreshing and light meal.
4. Lemon Herb Chicken Foil Packets:
Place chicken breasts on a large piece of aluminum foil. Season with lemon juice, garlic,
and your favorite herbs (such as rosemary or thyme). Fold the foil into a packet and grill
or bake in foil over open fire until the chicken is cooked through.
5. Thai Larb:
This is one of our families’ favorite meals on the regular but camping it is really easy to
prep before you leave. Easy to reheat and eat on summer warm nights! We did this meal
in a group raft camp trip. It was very hot out and everyone loved the light, refreshing
meal. There were no leftovers!
Depending on how many people you are feeding, 4 people 1lb of ground pork (if you
have more people to feed; double all of the ingredients), Keffer lime leaves (1) Keffer
lime leaf adds a really amazing unique taste, lemon grass. Lemon grass 2 ways into the
ground pork. 2 large shallots chopped up. ½ fresh lime juice. Cook ground pork in a pan
over med-high heat, add finely chopped shallot, add one two-inch lemon grass stalk, 1
Keffer limes. Once Pork is cooked drain or spoon out the excess fat. Put pork back on the
heat add in the fish sauce suggested is 1.5 tsp, but I add to taste, I have one kid that loves
salt! Then use a mircoplane grater and grate lemon grass into the pork mixture of
goodness. Got grating lemon grass tip from our good friend Kevin, you can do this trick
for everyday cooking ie; for curries too! Love lemon grass flavor and this help bring it
out even more. Add fresh lime juice. Change to low heat; simmer pork mixture for 10
mins or less. Turn off heat and let all the lovely ingredients come together. While that is
cooling down prepare the fresh top ingredients.
Mandolin, or slice very finely radishes & cucumbers. Chop green onions, chop of fresh
herbs; mint, parsley, cilantro, cubed mangos or papayas.
I will prep rice and large ice berg lettuce leaves into a zip lock/or reusable silicone bag.
Reheat, it all (except the freshly prepared raw ingredients lettuce, radishes/cumbers,
tropical fruit and herbs) Once pork mixture and rice are reheated top with all the raw
ingredients or use the ice burg lettuce to wrap up the pork. Enjoy, you will have happy
family and friends!
6. Berry Parfaits:
Layer Greek yogurt with fresh berries (such as strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries)
and granola in small mason jars or cups. Drizzle with honey for a sweet treat.
Cooking with your Bend Teardrop camper on your summer camping trips can be a delightful
experience, blending the joys of outdoor cooking with the convenience of your simple outdoor
kitchen. By planning ahead, keeping meals simple yet flavorful, and utilizing fresh seasonal
ingredients, you can create memorable meals that complement your adventures under the sun.
